Pottery Barn Courtney Lamp | Hi everyone and welcome returning to one more in our articles. In today’s article I’m going to discuss the touch lamp. If you don’t know what an impression lamp is, it is a really quite simple concept. It’s merely a lamp that you just touch to turn don and doff, or too brighten and dim the lighting. They always apparently fascinate people since there isn’t a physical switch that you can see to make the lighting work. Since the electrical switch is on almost anything we touch in society, the lack of one does stick out.

The touch lamp isn’t exactly a whole new concept. They are lamps as with any other, but rather than using physical work or movement to turn them don and doff, they depend upon your bodies own capacitance to work the switching mechanism. They still do have a switch while you can’t view it from the outside. It’s similar to the sort of switches which can be in most “Touch” screens in how they operate. Your body always carries and electrical charge. The volume of this charge is called your “Capacitance,” which is the volume of capacity it has hold electrical current. Everyone has a slightly different capacitance, but we all have been inside a range that’s enough to work the switch inside the touch lamp. When you touch the lamp, the switch is thrown and the lighting turns on or off, and it can brighten or dim when the lamp is made with this feature included. So as you can see, the lamp is simply by no means an incredible object. It’s just as with any other light or lamp in your house with the exception that rather than moving a switch to turn it on, you simply touch it.
