Ge Torchiere Floor Lamp | Marc Sadler is a genius for easy yet unimaginable solutions
– take Twiggy, as an example, the light, flexible arc lamp.
One day he came into the company and showed us something worth it to read: an angling rod.
The designer believes that this simple shape and flexibility with the material’s performance makes Twiggy unique and different in the other products on the market: “The material is a carbon/fiberglass mix, put together having a binding resin. It has a high mechanical resistance and is extremely light and ductile.” The fact that it can be ductile enables the creation of shapes which were ‘stretched’ for the very limit also to obtain unusually sized diffusers. The flexibility with the material defines the ample and essential curve with the arm that carries the sunlight source in the base, which is height adjustable because of a method of counterweights, and length adjustable having a list of arm extensions.

Twiggy Floor Lamp consists of linear sections, the same as an angling rod with the support for a tent. When it can be taken apart it occupies very little space as soon as it can be assembled it curves harmoniously. A simple system of counterweights, in a space across the diffuser, allows the height to become adjusted at distances of 5 cm.
Twiggy’s base is also inspired with the image of an angling rod placed in the bottom, having a simple, light disc that will not occupy much space. Yet, at the beginning with the project, it had been an excellent metal body. Now it has become all to easy to insert anywhere, even by sliding it with a table, a chair or a carpet.
Twiggy is a slender, natural symbol in space and because of this slender nature it can be marked with strong colors, to harmonize with any kind of environment or taste.
